Good question and I don&#039;t know that I can honestly answer it as I&#039;ve never asked myself that question. However, as I think through it I don&#039;t believe I would advocate either. In the &quot;Z&quot; effect theory, the content resides on the path of the &quot;Z&quot; that returns back down the screen from the upper right to the lower left. It&#039;s in that path the user scans the screen. Again, only in theory but as their eyes travel that path its best to place elements on the page that will visually hold their attention.
